The Driveway Story

2/13/2026

One night, I accidentally booked a babysitter for the wrong date.

I thought it was Saturday.
She had it written down as Friday.

We had texted back and forth. Nothing formal. No confirmation. Just messages.

Friday night comes.

We’re home.
My wife is in pajamas.
Kids are winding down.

Then headlights hit the front of the house.

Someone pulls into the driveway.

We look at each other.

Doorbell rings.

It’s the babysitter — right on time.

Except it’s the wrong night.

She had driven all the way to our house. We felt terrible. It wasn’t her fault. It was just miscommunication.

When we actually did get the date right and she came back the following night, we made sure to tip her well because of the hassle of having to drive out twice.

But that’s the point.

It shouldn’t take guilt tips and double drives to keep things smooth.

The issue wasn’t trust.
It wasn’t reliability.
It was organization.

We had:

  • Text messages in multiple threads
  • No shared confirmation
  • No simple way to see “this is booked”
  • No recurring structure

That moment stuck with me.

Babysitting is built on trust. It shouldn’t depend on scrolling through old texts and hoping everyone wrote down the same date.

That’s one of the reasons BabyPool exists.

  • Clear availability
  • Confirmed bookings everyone can see
  • Recurring scheduling without confusion

So no one wastes a drive.
And no one answers the door in pajamas wondering what went wrong.
